Yes, it takes work, but the time and effort required is minimal compared to training other aspects of your game. Strength training will improve your speed, coordination, footwork, balance, power, reaction time, flexibility, conditioning, confidence, and injury resilience.
Strength training is a skill that anyone can learn. By practicing a few basic principles, I guarantee you will get stronger and your tennis will improve.
How to Get Stronger On Your Own
- Do two to three total body strength workouts per week, between 30 and 60 minutes long.
- Do foam rolling and mobility for 5-15 minutes every workout.
- Do 3 sets of 5-12 reps or 30 seconds of each exercise.
