Anatomy Basics

Anatomy is the study of the structures of the body, in other words, the what and where. This course covers the muscular system and some of the skeletal system, together known as the musculoskeletal system. There is a lot of anatomy and physiology (the how and why) beyond what we teach, but since our focus is learning muscle actions and attachments, this will be brief to cover only the basics of what is important to know for this course...with a little bonus knowledge sprinkled in.

How's Your Anatomy Knowledge?

Although you will learn more about anatomy as you go thru this course, it will be very helpful if you are familiar with the following:

  • Structures of the Body (what are bones, muscles, ligaments, tendons, etc.)
  • Joint Actions (i.e. flexion, extension, abduction, etc.)
  • Anatomical Positions (i.e. anterior, posterior, lateral, medial, etc.)

The above information will be covered in the topics below. You can skip this is you are already familiar. If you aren't sure, do the lesson.
